Lagrein is native to South Tyrol and is one of the dominant red grape varieties there. It flourishes on sandy and gravelly soils, which are responsible for the wine’s ruby red color and complexity. Lagrein loves the Mediterranean climate, which delivers gentle notes of wild berries, cherry and violet.

The fully mature grapes are harvested exclusively by hand. They are carefully de-stemmed and allowed to ferment with the skins for about 20 days. After racking, the wine is left to mature in French oak barriques for 12-15 months before being transferred to stainless steel tanks.
